📍 From Ulaanbaatar to Vancouver

Khuslen grew up in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, a city famous for its freezing winters that can drop to –40 °C. Moving to Vancouver, with its mild weather and multicultural atmosphere, was a big change.

She remembers her first days clearly — everything felt new, from the way people interacted to how university life was structured. But instead of feeling overwhelmed, she embraced the adventure:

“It was scary at first, but also exciting. I knew this experience would help me grow.”

🎓 Why She Chose UCW and an MBA in Finance

Choosing the right school and program is one of the biggest decisions for any student. For Khuslen, University Canada West stood out for its location, diverse student community, and career-focused programs.

She decided to pursue an MBA with a focus on Finance, combining her interest in business with a goal to build a strong international career.

UCW’s hands-on approach to learning, smaller class sizes, and practical curriculum gave her the confidence to tackle complex business concepts while connecting with students from all around the world.

🌟 Adjusting to Life as an International Student

Like many international students, Khuslen experienced cultural differences, language barriers, and moments of homesickness.

What helped her adjust?

  • Building a support network through classmates and student communities.

  • Getting involved in campus activities to make friends and practice English.

  • Staying open to new experiences and perspectives.

She also highlighted how Vancouver’s multicultural environment made it easier to adapt. Meeting people from different countries and learning from their experiences became one of her favorite parts of student life.

🚀 Lessons Learned and Advice for New Students

Looking back, Khuslen shared valuable advice for anyone starting their Canadian study journey:

  • Step out of your comfort zone. Growth happens when you try new things.

  • Get involved early. Whether it’s clubs, events, or networking opportunities — participation matters.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Professors and student services are there to support you.

“You don’t have to figure it all out alone. People here are friendly — just reach out.”
